Social Networking Mania!
Recent estimates state that the active internet audience has now reached a global figure of 625m and this figure is only likely to increase after certain areas of eastern Africa received broadband for the first time ever.
Research carried out by Universal McCann show that 63% of the 625m online users have joined a social networking site, which is an increase from 57% last year.

The study showed that these social network users are more likely to upload videos and photos than they were during previous years.
Glen Parker, a research director at Universal McCann, said: "Social media is a very fast evolving landscape and one that's taking an increasingly important role in consumers' digital lives.'
During June sites such as Facebook and MySpace gained 77 million and 68.4 million unique visitors respectively, whilst it is estimated that Twitter will have received over 12 million users by the end of 2009.
These figures clearly indicate the mass popularity that social networking sites have achieved over the years, and the fact that user figures continue to rise show that there's little chance of it declining anytime soon.
