The Challenge:

In 2008 Balloons contacted us in the hope that we could help their website become more competitive online via effective website optimisation.

Initially the Balloons website had a limited online presence on any of the major search engines which subsequently saw the vast majority of their target audience purchasing products from rival websites.

Balloons informed us that they wanted to be found on the first page of Google for all of their targeted keyword terms, whilst also receiving a high improvement in online sales.

As Jump 2 IT Media do not tie clients into contracts we were simply told that if we didn’t provide improvements then Balloons would move to a different SEO company.

We knew quite clearly what we had to do.


The Strategy:

As always, the initial part of our optimisation strategy is to determine what areas of the site require improvement. After analysis it was clear that the standard of optimisation already on the site was very limited and not particularly focused on any specific keyword terms.

The internal linking throughout the site also required immediate attention as Google were unable to index a large number of pages due to their navigation system and the way in which product pages were displayed.

Once the analysis had been completed then we carried out in-depth keyword research to see what keyword terms online users search for in order to buy children’s clothing.

The results told us that the vast majority of users search for specific brands, although a high percentage also searches for generic keywords such as ‘Childrens Clothes’. This meant that we had to successfully optimise the site for a wide range of keyword terms if Balloons was going to reach a high proportion of its target audience.

As a result we fully optimised all individual pages, particularly brand pages, to improve their keyword density, internal linking, Meta data, and much more to ensure that all pages within the Balloons site was as well optimised as possible.

Once the onsite optimisation had been completed then we set out to increase greater online exposure via different avenues, such as link building, directory submissions, and social media.

A large amount of focus was put on high quality link building to help improve their link popularity score, Google PageRank score, and visitors via referrals.

In addition to this we also paid a lot of attention to competitor websites to determine the optimisation tactics they were employing, the marketing elements that had incorporated into their sites, and also to see if Balloons could ultimately benefit from taking a leaf out of their book.


The Results:

In the space of just three months the site has gained substantial keyword improvements on all of the major search engines, particularly on Google, which led to a healthy visitor increase of 53.70%.

Over the following months www.balloons.co.uk continued to gain increased online exposure through the search engines, referring websites, whilst the Balloons brand was becoming more and more recognised as online users were now searching for the terms ‘Balloons Web’ and ‘Balloons Clothes’ more than ever.

Today though the site is performing more effectively than ever before; Balloons are now found in the top 3 positions on Google for the vast majority of the brands that they sell and sales levels are at an all time high.

In fact during the quarter of September-November 2011 the site gained a total of 91,563 visitors, which is a visitor increase of over 75% when compared to the same quarter in 2008.

The most pleasing results from our point of view is the fact that organic (non paid) visitors from the search engines during this time have increased by over 202% for the period of Sept-Nov 2008 to Sept-Nov 2011.

To be even more specific, visitors entering the site via searches on Google, Yahoo, and Bing have jumped from 14,368 to 43,260 in three years.

As you can imagine, Balloons are pretty pleased that they decided to choose Jump 2 IT Media way back in 2008.
